A Position of Love
Fruit of the Spirit
The love of God allows us to flow in the Fruit of the Spirit. So many times, I believe that when things are not going well, or favorable in our lives, we feel like it is a punishment from God, but it is not. The Word of God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, that He knows the thoughts He thinks concerning us; thoughts of peace and not of evil to give an expected end. In another translation, He says that He gives us a future and a hope. He also gives us the Holy Spirit so that we can demonstrate and manifest that fruit in every situation we encounter.
Understand that the Holy Spirit is always with the people of God in every situation; however, He is not there to override our wills. We must stay focused and planted in the love of God in order to display the Fruit of the Spirit. With the Holy Spirit abiding in us, He allows us to keep it together in any situation; God WILL provide a way of escape. In our trying times, God does not change His mind about us; we must remain in God’s love as we go through our valley experiences. The first Fruit of the Spirit is love. Abiding in this first fruit makes it possible for us to display the other Fruit of the Spirit. God is love and we must remain in the love of the Father so that we can consistently demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Every part of our lives must line up with the Word of God.
There is not room to believe that one part of our lives does not have anything to do with another part. God is concerned about our entire being. When He says to guard our hearts, it is because the issues of life reside in the heart and they potentially affect every action. In another place the Lord speaks about keeping our mind stayed on Him. He assures us if we keep our minds focused on Him, he will keep us in perfect peace. In keeping with the Word of God we are required to be born again if we are to consistently walk in the fruit of the spirit. We ought to let His love guide us.
